Permissions reference

WP Customer Area is based on the WordPress system capabilities to fine-tune the permissions granted or not a particular role. This reference guide lists all the additional capabilities offered by WP Customer Area and its extensions.

To change them, go to Settings > Permissions of your WordPress administration. They are grouped by add-on and articulated around a common structure:

  • back-office (in the WordPress admin panel) ;
  • front-office (on the website itself) ;
  • content management from the front-office (creation, removal, modification)

General settings

Back-office

View the menu Show the Customer Area menu items in the main WordPress administration panel menu.
View someone else’s WP Customer Area (Switch users) When the WP Customer Area – Switch Users add-on is active, this will allow the current user to switch identity and view the Customer Area documents of another user. Typically, this is something we usually only enable for administrators.

Conversations

Back-office

List all conversations The user will be able to list conversations that he did not create.
Create / Edit conversations The user will be able to create new conversations or edit existing ones. Currently, conversations cannot be started from the back-office, this capability is not used.
Delete conversations The user will be able to delete existing conversations.
Access conversations The user will be able to view the menu items to list conversations.

Front-office

View any conversation The user will be able to list conversations that he did not create.
View conversations The user will be able to use the features of the WP Customer Area – Conversations add-on.
Reply to a conversation The user will be able to reply to a conversation.

Content edition (from front-office)

Select an owner (uses default else) The user will be able to select an owner.
Select a category (uses default else) The user will be able to select a category.

Content creation (from front-office)

Create content from front office The user will be able to create a conversation.
Bypass moderation (content is automatically published) The user will be able to override the moderation process: the conversation will be published as soon as it is online. Currently, moderation for conversations is not implemented, this capacity is not effective.

Content update (from front-office)

Update any content from front-office The user will be able to edit any conversation from the private site.
Update authored content The user will be able to edit a conversation from the private site.
Update owned content The user will be able to change a conversation that has been assigned to him.

Content removal (from front-office)

Delete any content from front-office The user will be able to delete any conversation from the private site.
Delete authored content The user will be able to delete a conversation from the private site.
Delete owned content The user will be able to remove one that has been assigned to her private conversation.

User Groups

Back-office

Create / Edit user groups The user will be able to create new groups or edit existing groups.
Delete user groups The user will be able to delete groups.
Access user groups The user will be able to view the menu items to list groups.
View the groups from a user profile The user will be able to view the groups from a user’s profile.
Edit the groups from a user profile The user will be able to add/remove groups from a user’s profile.

Managed Groups

Back-office

Create / Edit managed groups The user will be able to create new groups or edit existing groups.
Delete managed groups The user will be able to delete groups.
Access managed groups The user will be able to view the menu items to list groups.
View the groups from a user profile The user will be able to view the groups from a user’s profile.

Projects

Back-office

Create / Edit projects The user will be able to create or modify existing projects.

Manage statuses The user will be able to create project statuses.
Edit satuses The user will be able to change the statutes of the project.
Delete statuses The user will be able to remove the statutes of the project.

Tasks

Back-office

List all lists The user will be able to view lists of tasks including those he did not create.
Access lists The user will be able to view tasks lists.
Create / Edit lists The user will be able to create or edit lists.
Delete lists The user will be able to delete lists.

Front-office

View task lists The user will be able to view lists.
View any task list The user will be able to view lists of tasks including those he did not create.
Manage tasks of any lists The user will be able to edit any lists.
Manage tasks of own lists The user will be able to modify its lists.
Manage tasks of assigned lists The user will be able to modify the tasks were assigned.
Check any task The user will be able to validate any task created.
Check tasks in own lists The user will be able to validate the tasks he created.
Check tasks in assigned lists The user will be able to validate the tasks assigned to it.

Front-office

View private pages The user will be able to use the private pages features of the Customer Area.
View any private page The user will be able to list pages that he did not create.

Content edition (from front-office)

Select an owner (uses default else) The user will be able to select an owner.
Select a category (uses default else) The user will be able to select a category.

Content creation (from front-office)

Create content from front office The user will be able to create a page.
Bypass moderation (content is automatically published) The user will be able to skip the moderation process: the page will be published as soon as it is created, else the page is saved as a draft, an administrator will have to review it and then publish it so that the owner can see it in his customer area.

Content update (from front-office)

Update any content from front-office The user will be able to edit any file from the private site.
Update authored content The user will be able to edit a file from the private site.
Update owned content The user will be able to modify one that has been assigned to her private file.

Content removal (from front-office)

Delete any content from front-office The user will be able to delete any file from the private site.
