    Hi,
I need that customers (subscribers) can upload files only visible to their own.
Could you please tell me how to do it?

    It’s quite urgent, thanks.

It’s not clear to me how to set the “private files” section – default owner:

    1) if I select as owner its role/usergroup “subscriber” or “customers” or “registered user” the file is visible to everyone in that group/role
    2) if I select editor or staff group as owner, the customer can’t see its own file
    3) if I don’t set any owner the customer is not allowed to create any files

    so how to set it?

    Hi,

The default owner feature should be used in case you want to hide the post owner selection form section.

A user should be able to assign contents to himself in the user select field.

    Hope that helps.

    Regards.

You mean that he should see the list of other users?

    Hi,

WP Customer Area shows the list of all users on the post owner selection forms by default.

If you hide the post owner selection forms, they won’t be able to assign contents to a project, a role, a group, or whatever else.

    Regards.

They just need to upload their private files, these files should be visible only to theirselves, in their own folder.
Please tell me a way to do it, but they shouldn’t see other customers in the list

Can I do that with the owner restrictions add on?
Subscribers should be allowed to upload files only visible to their own, without seeing other users

Please let me know asap, thanks.

    Hi,

If i understand your request correctly, you want to :
    – Delete/hide the post owners form section so that anybody can’t pick a owner (projects, users, groups, etc…)
    – That the created content is being automatically assigned to the author of the post?

    Regards.

YES, staff (editors) can see the list of users and assign files to usergroups or every single user,
but customers (subscribers) can upload files only in their area – that will become a sort of personal archive – so yes, their contents should be automatically assigned to their own

    Hi,

YES, staff (editors) can see the list of users and assign files to usergroups or every single user

For this part, you will the owner restrictions add-on which allows you to select which role is able to select what.

but customers (subscribers) can upload files only in their area

You can follow this blog post which is explaining how to hide the owners selection form and make the default auto-selected (scroll down to New ability to hide the owner selection part).

However, you can’t actually auto-select the current connected user. This would need to be done by code, probably by using the filter cuar/core/ownership/selectable-owner-types.

    Hope that helps,

    Regards.

    Hi,
I don’t undesrtand why in the owner restriction addons screenshot there seems to be exactly the function that I need:

It seems to be possible for a subscriber to create a private content “only for himself”
Could you please let me know more about it?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

This should work yes. It’s just that I’m not sure that you can use that with the default options, in order to hide the form.

    Regards.

Hi, I bought my 4th addon: the “owner restriction” one but I still cant’ have a file visible only to the single user who upload it.
It seems I have set everything correctly:

    – subscribers can create content : “only for himself”
    – in global, I’ve tried all options.

I don’t know anymore what to do: you have my credentials.

My customer is waiting for this function: please, it’s urgent.

Hi guys, do you have any news regarding my issue?
I wrote to you more than a week ago … could you kindly give me feedback?

    Hi,

Actually, I would suggest you to not use the default owner feature, and just only allow the user to select himself from the list.

Alternatively, you can also pick admin as the default owner, so any content will be assigned to the admin. Then, you could hide all the texts saying the post is assigned to the admin by editing our templates.

I checked how the post is saved actually, and there is no filter allowing you to override the owner programmatically, so there are only some workarounds, for now, to allow you to this.

I’ll ask @vprat to see if he has a better idea for this.

    Regards.
