How do I download pdf files from the My files page on the frontend

The “My Files” page, per default, lists the private file posts, not the attachment links.
You then need to click one of them to see its details, which should include a link to the file attachment linked to the post.
Do not hesitate to post a screenshot if you think there’s anything going wrong (like no attachment link showing up into the private file post itself).
If you don’t see any attachment link when browsing a private file post, please check this FAQ.
If you want to display attachment links directly on the “My Files” page, you can edit our templates and use our private files functions to display attachment links wherever you’d like.

Hi,
First, from the attachment named “WP-Customer-Area-Frontend.jpg”, I see that you have a few styling issues. The area seems to not be correctly displayed. Are you using DIVI and the DIVI compatibility add-on? It looks like some styles from your theme are affecting the area.
If I click on the Dashboard tab I go to the 2nd attached jpeg
This is not the expected behavior. That tab shouldn’t show a page from your site.
Please make sure that:
- …you did not set any WPCA page as homepage in Settings > Reading
- …there are NO missing page or any red warning showing up in Private Area > Status. If there’s any, you should fix the mentionned issues by clicking the red button showing up in that case. You shouldn’t disable or delete WPCA pages, especially the “Dashboard” page. If you did, that can lead to redirection issues.
You could also rebuild all the pages in Settings > WP Customer Area > Site pages (scroll down to the bottom page and click the button “delete and recreate all pages”) - …you’re not facing any plugin conflict, either from another plugin, or from your theme itself (try to switch theme for testing purpose and see if the issue persists)
Is it possible to only have the ACCOUNT DETAILS & MY FILES tabs visible for logged-in users?
- You can completely disable the private pages add-on in Settings > WP Customer Area > Private Pages. That way, the menu tab will disappear and your users wont get access anymore to any of the sub-pages related to private pages.
- You can also set additional permissions in Settings > WP Customer Area > Capabilities for each content type and role. For instance, if you want the private pages add-on to be usable for some roles on your site, you could disable the capability Privates Pages > Frontend > View Private Pages for subscribers. That way, the menu tab will automatically be hidden for any user with the subscriber role.
I also do not need COMPANY PROFILE & PRIVACY POLICY & PRIVATE AREA tabs.
- I am actually not sure why those 3 links have been added into your menu. They shouldn’t be there by default. I would recommend that you first recreate the menu from Settings > WP Customer Area > Frontend (click the recreate menu button)
- Then, you should be able to edit that menu in Menus > Locations > WP Customer Area menu.
We recommend that you duplicate the menu named “WP Customer Area” to something like “WP Customer Area duplicate”, because our menu can be re-synced and rebuilt when you add some add-ons or edit some pages. Once duplicated, feel free to edit the menu-items. You can add the menu class “wpca-logged-only” in case you want the item to only be shown to logged-in users, or the class “wpca-guest-only” in case you want the menu to only be shown to non-logged-in users.
