send file from front end

Hi, Can you confirm it is possible to send (create) a file to user(s) or group(s) of users from the front end ? I understand it is possible to create a new conversation (conversations – nouvelle conversation) but I cannot activate the same for files.
I’ve setup the same permissions/restricitons in the WP Customer Area settings (conversations and private files tabs), but it doesn’t help.
As for now, the only way to send files to users is through the back end. Am I missing something ?

      Thanks !

      Hi,

Can you confirm it is possible to send (create) a file to user(s) or group(s) of users from the front end ?

Yes, I confirm it is possible. You need the Front Office Publishing add-on in order to let users create private file posts from the frontend, and the additional Owner Types add-on, in order to let the admin create groups as owner types.

I’ve setup the same permissions/restricitons in the WP Customer Area settings (conversations and private files tabs), but it doesn’t help.

Does it actually work when connected as administrator? Since administrators do not require any privileges (they have all permissions activated), it should at least work as expected when connected as administrator. If not, your issue is not a permission issue. What is the problem you are facing exactly? Is the menu tab missing maybe? Anyway, you might try this:

      • In WP-admin > Settings > WP Customer Area > Private Files > Make sure “Activate Private Files add-on” is checked
      • In WP-Admin > Private Area > Status > Make sure you don’t see any warning (like “Some pages are missing”, or “Menu is out of sync”). If yes, click the red buttons to automatically fix it.
      • If previous steps did not fix your fix your issue: In WP-Admin > Settings WP Customer Area > You can scroll down to the bottom page and click the button “Recreate all pages”. You won’t lose any private content. This will recreate WP pages required to let the plugin work. You’ll then be prompted to re-sync the menu.

Do not hesitate to tell me about those results and/or to give additional information what is missing or not working as expected.

      Regards.

Hello Thomas, thank you for your reply.
I see your answer is divided in 2 parts, 1 says we need the front office publishing plugin, the 2nd says we just need to confirm some permission settings. Do we need 1 AND 2, or one of them is enough ?

      Hi,

First step is about the add-ons required to let your users post private content from the frontend.

Second step is some tips you should check to attempt debugging your configuration. You should actually be allowed to post files from frontend, like you are allowed to post private pages. I recommend to first try while logged-in as administrator, then as a subscriber.

      I hope that helps.

      Regards.
