So I’m not sure what changed, maybe it was installing ReallySimpleSSL or Wordfence? But I kinda need those tools/plugins and everything worked fine after using them for some days, until just now.
Suddenly now when trying to access any custom-area file, it says “page not found”.
I’ve checked my FTP, the files are still there in the default directory where they’ve always been.
I also tried creating a new file to test if it was only previous files not being found and even the new file isn’t able to be found, it goes to the default directory as always, but when accessing the file from wordpress it says “page not found”.Any idea how I can fix this?

Hello,
even the new file isn’t able to be found, it goes to the default directory as always, but when accessing the file from wordpress it says “page not found”
Do you mean you are not able to display a private file post, or do you mean you are not able to download attachments’ files linked to those private file posts?
In any case, I would first recommend that you update the permalinks in Settings > Permalinks, save to “post”.
maybe it was installing ReallySimpleSSL or Wordfence
Yes, that could be the culprit. If saving permalinks again do not work, I would recommend to check for a plugin conflict. You’ll basically need to deactivate all plugins and/or theme and reactivate them all one by one, in order to isolate the source of the conflict. In most case, you’ll realize the issue appears again when reactivating a particular plugin, which then should help investigating the issue or conflict further.
I hope that helps.
Regards.
