Files and data migration

Participant# 1 day, 18 hours agoHi guys!
I have open a topic in the other thread but I have no answer in days… I hope that, in this thread, as I have several add ons licenses active, I have more luck.
It would be a pity to have a bad review for no support when your development is good!I am using your main plugin and a couple of premium add-ons for my website and everything is working fine.
However, now we are redesigning the website and I will need to move all the files data from the current website to the new one.
What is the best way to do this? Do you have any tool to export the data and import them into other website? Thanks a lot.

Keymaster# 1 day, 18 hours agoHi Antonio,
Thanks for your message, and sorry for the delay — happy to help.
Yes, you can safely migrate all your WP Customer Area data (private files, pages, owners, metadata, etc.) to your new website.
There is no dedicated export/import tool inside the plugin, but the migration is fully supported through a full WordPress site migration. Here is the recommended method:
1. Migrate the database
All WP Customer Area data is stored in WordPress tables, so you simply need to export the database from your current site and import it into the new one. Tools you can use:All-in-One WP Migration
WP Migrate Lite / Pro
Duplicator
or a manual SQL export/import via phpMyAdminThis step transfers:
– private files metadata
– private pages
– relationships (owners, customers, assignments, etc.)
– plugin settings and add-on configurations2. Copy the physical private files
WP Customer Area stores uploaded files in:
wp-content/uploads/customer-area/
(or another custom directory if you changed it)Simply copy this folder from the old server to the new one.
3. Check your access rules & permalinks
Once migrated:
go to Settings → Permalinks and click Save
check WP Customer Area → Settings → Files to confirm the storage path
verify private content access rules (they should already be intact)That’s all — everything should work.
After these two elements (DB + uploads folder), all your private content should appear exactly as before, including access restrictions and file histories. We remain at your disposal if you need more specific instructions.

Thanks for your answer 🙂
However it is not possible to do a full migration, because we are redesigning the website and some funcionalities and content will be different (theme for example) and a full ddbb backup will break some things.
Are there separated tables for your plugin data? How can I move the data you exposed in step 1, without moving the whole website:
– private files metadata
– private pages
– relationships (owners, customers, assignments, etc.)
– plugin settings and add-on configurationsThanks!

Keymaster# 18 hours, 13 minutes agoHi Antonio,
The migration method you are considering is technically possible, but it is much more complex and requires a developer familiar with WordPress data structures. WP Customer Area stores its information across several core WordPress tables (posts, postmeta, users, taxonomies, options…) as well as its private file storage, so a partial migration is not a straightforward export/import process.
For this reason, the safest and most reliable approach is to start from a full clone of your existing website and then apply your redesign on top of it.
I would recommend following this method, as it ensures that all private files, private pages, ownerships and relationships remain fully consistent. If you still prefer the partial migration route, it can be done, but it should ideally be handled by an experienced developer to avoid any data inconsistencies that could result in private files not being accessible to the correct users.
I hope this explanation will help and I remain at your disposal if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Emmanuel

I wish I could do this:
“For this reason, the safest and most reliable approach is to start from a full clone of your existing website and then apply your redesign on top of it.”
However this only solves the problem in a specific point of time. While we work on the new website (it could be weeks), new files will be created in the old website and we will lost them as we will not be able to migrate to the new website. So as far as I understand, this is not an option…
Maybe using a plugin like wp all import, would help? I am open to every possibility.
We are developers, so I don’t have any problem moving some tables, but I should know what we need to move exactly…
Thanks!

Keymaster# 17 hours, 2 minutes agoAntonio,
Thanks for the clarification.
You can absolutely use a clone of your current website as a starting point for the redesign — this remains the safest and most reliable approach. A final sync of new private files and WP Customer Area content can be done before launch if activity continues on the old site.
Regarding the manual migration method you mentioned, I can provide you with the full list of post types, metadata and settings involved. Since this includes technical details about your installation, I would prefer to share that information privately.
