WCPA My Files – Sidebar Categories Widget

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to limit the Categories that are displayed within the sidebar ‘WPCA – Files Categories’ widget to just the categories that a user has files in?
For example:-
User 1 is marked as the owner of a file in Category A, Category B and Category C
User 2 is marked as the owner of a file in Category D, Category E and Category F
User 3 is marked as the owner of a file in Category G, Category H and Category I
What I have found is that regardless of who is logged into the system every user sees the exact same categories listed in the sidebar Category A, Category B, Category C, Category D, Category E, Category F, Category G, Category H and Category I. As each user only has a file in three categories there is no reason for them to see the other six.
Also it would be even more beneficial if the results were based on User Group rather than the User, is there a way to do that too?
Many thanks.

Hi,
Have you tried checking the option to restrict to non empty categories in the widget settings?

Hi Vincent,
Yes I have already set the option to restrict the non empty categories within the widget, it has had zero impact on what is displayed as all categories are still showing.Regards,

Hi
Then we will have a look. There may be something broken in the widgets after the last update. This may take a couple of weeks as this is summer holiday for us.

Hi there,
Vincent is still on holiday.
Could you please wait till august? I guess he’ll be able to take a look into that as soon as he will get back.
Thank you for your patience.
Best regards.

Currently nothing new as I have not been able to reproduce it myself: all empty categories are hidden.
Have you tried looking for a conflict with another plugin or with your theme?

Hi Vincent,
Yes this is my ‘go-to’ action whenever something does not work the way that it should.I uninstalled all of the other plug-ins to make sure that there wasn’t any conflicts and the issue remains for me.

Hi,
We noticed a bug with the widget (see this post), however, it looks like you are describing another issue.
I’ll make some tests. If I understand correctly, you are trying to hide the categories where the currently logged-in user doesn’t have any content?Regards.

Hi Thomas,
Yes your assessment of the problem is correct.FYI the WPCA plug-ins I have installed are ‘Switch users – Professional‘ and ‘Additional owner types – Professional‘.
I would be willing to provide you with log-on credentials too if that would help?
Regards,
Kevin

Hi,
I have marked it as private anyway. We probably have a bug in the bbPress forum preventing you from posting private replies :/

Hi,
sorry if I write in this topic, but I can't understand how I can open a new topic. I have registered my account but I don't have the possibility to start a new topic? How should I do? Thanks Giusy P.

Hi @visureclic,
There is a post topic form on each support forum, at the bottom of the page, right after the topics list. Please, consider creating your own.
Regards.

Hi @kevin-gilmour,
Sorry, I get a DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error when trying to access your site.
Is it still online?
Anyway, I’ll try this on my side too and let you know.
Regards.

Thanks Thomas, I will give it a try and see how I get on.
Unbeknownst to me that domain I had set-up had been earmarked for deletion, I’ve set it up again but hopefully I won’t need it.
