      Hi,

I have the “Front office publishing” add-on and I would like to understand how to ensure that when a user uploads a file he can only add it to his private area. Thank you

      Hello,

You’ll need the Owner Restrictions add-on to do that.

You’ll get some new options for each privte content, in the settings, to configure, per role and for each owner type, what the user can select.

For instance, you can configure the subscriber role to only be allowed to select an user as the owner, and to only be able to select himself in that user selection box.

      Regards.

      Hi,
yes I also have the Owner Restrictions add-on.

What settings should I set so that a user can upload content only for themselves?

I also wanted to ask another piece of information: is it possible to upload a file for a user and ensure that if it is not downloaded within 10 days the file is automatically deleted?

      Thanks in advance,

      Hello,

What settings should I set so that a user can upload content only for themselves?

You’ll need to configure the add-on.
This add-on adds some new options in the Settings > WP Customer Area > Private content type (such as Private Files / Pages, etc) > Owner Restrictions. Click the subscriber role from the left bar, then, in the “user” owner type selection box, select “only himself”.

However, keep in ming that an user do not need to assign a content to himself to be able to view it, if he is creating the post, because, in that case, he will be author of the post. Also, an author will view its own created posts, except if you kept active the option to hide authored posts. We do not specifically recommend you to configure it like that, because your users will sometimes not select themselves.

If I understand what you are trying to do, you just want your users to not be able to select others’ users from your site. In that case, I would recommend that, instead of using the Owner Restrictions add-on, you use the default feature to remove the entire owner selection part of the steps by steps form, and just assign the administrator by default (or another user). Check this blog post and scroll down to “new ability to hide the Owner selection part”.

is it possible to upload a file for a user and ensure that if it is not downloaded within 10 days the file is automatically deleted?

Sorry, we don’t have such a feature. If you really need that, you’ll need to hire a developer to extend WPCA’s plugin and its addons and develop it for you.

      Regards.
