WP Customer Area compatibility

    • # 1 year, 10 months ago

      Hi,

now that WordPress 6.0 is available, can we securely update or would be better to wait an update of the plugin by your team? If we need to wait, have you defined the relase date for next update?

I have another question on plugin compatibility with PHP. We currently use you plugin on version 7.4, but when I tried to upgrade the PHP version to 8.0 on our staging website, I had some problems with the file attachment field and some unwanted behaviours. Are you planning to upgrade the code to work flawlessy with PHP8? The next update will be compatible with PHP 8.0+?

      Thank you.

      Hi,

Regarding WordPress 6, we have not yet tested the plugin for it, but there should be no issue apart from a few warning (which can easily be fixed until we publish our update, see https://gitlab.com/wp-customerarea/plugins/customer-area/-/commit/e8df7d47a20c3cecb747f1ed2eaae9466a9955b4).

Regarding PHP 8, this is harder, WordPress is making it rather hard on developers to ask to maintain PHP versions dating back to 5.6… Currently we have not worked on PHP 8 support, as we had set other priorities.

That said, if you have any precise error/behaviour in a particular screen which you think is related to PHP8, do not hesitate to report it here, sometimes this is an easyfix and we will include that in the next release.
