• What’s new in WP Customer Area 7.9.0?

    June 26, 2020

We are happy to announce a huge update as of WP Customer Area 7.9.0, including two new add-ons. It’s mostly about design and display control improvements, but not just that! Since 7.7.0, there have been many improvements, but also many patches: 23 new features and over 49 issues fixes and tweaks. For instance, we improved the security and optimized the size of the plugin and assets. Check our article and changelogs below for more information.

Note: Please note that we can’t write a full paragraph for all our new features or bug fixes, so this post will give you some details about the most requested ones.

    New Content Expiry add-on

We created a new add-on that will allow you, for each private content post, to set a predefined date range where the post will be set as valid, and therefore allowed to be displayed.

As you can see on the above screenshots, you’ll be able to define some different dates to set the post as valid for a given period. The validity date will then be displayed on the frontend private posts.

Note: You’ll get this add-on without any additional cost if you already own the All add-ons Bundle, the Collaborative Bundle, or the Freelancer Bundle.

    New DIVI Compatibility add-on

Many of you reported some issues with the DIVI theme from Elegant Themes, and they were a bit hard to solve, so we decided to create an official add-on, to fix them all.

Best news about it? It’s free.

Do not hesitate to report some more issues about it on our support forums, or even for another theme.

Note: This add-on is free, but you’ll need a licence in order to get notified about the updates.

    Design improvements

We updated the look and feel of the carousel at the top of private pages. It now has a better look, but not only that! It does now include some new useful links to help you navigate through your posts more easily. Find below a quick overview of some of the new features created there.

    Frontend editor enhancements

We decided to make some changes to the advanced frontend editor that belongs to the Front Office Publishing add-on.

The frontend editor will not generate paragraph tags by itself anymore, WordPress will do that instead and this will be performed by the wpautop() function. This will make the editor simpler and will make its behavior much closer to the one from the admin side.

That simple update will even allow some WordPress shortcodes to be used, like the embed shortcode (so that your users can easily embed videos or others contents from external sources).

You can now use the Embed shortcode from WordPress

Also, the visual view from the editor will now remove any HTML data when pasting content to make the use of it simpler (HTML pasting is still allowed in code view, in case you need to add more complex data).

    Display control improvements

Many of you have let us know that it is embarrassing to have on pages of content, only the posts assigned to the connected user. We listened to you, and we added on the pages “My files”, “My pages” (etc.) the possibility to add the contents created by the current connected user.

We did not want to make this change a breaking change for some of you. So, in 7.7.0 version, we decided to add a new filter that will allow you to display on the same listing page, the content authored by, and assigned to the current user. However, we felt that it was a bit tricky for some of our users, so we decided to make it simpler by adding an option in the settings panel of each content type.

This setting can be found in Settings -> WP Customer Area -> {private content type} -> Frontend Integration -> Content queries -> Hide contents created by the current connected user for listings.

Hide/show contents created by the current connected user for listings
